decimus72, God never "abandoned" Jesus. He died on the cross because that's what he was sent to Earth to do. NOw all of our sins are forgiven, if we ask of them to be. God or Jesus (basicly the same person) never left our side and never will. And I doubt zJesus felt bad for himself, because he never sinned. And I think pity for yourself is or should be a sin, because it's self centered.

Newo92Great explanation, although I'm not sure the questioner is really interested in understanding as much as trying to ridicule us and make himself feel superior. When Jesus took on all our sins and was briefly "abandoned" by the Father, He felt a kind of anguish that none of us can ever know in this life because we have never been completely in the presence of God. It's probably like being addicted to crack and giving it up cold turkey, but a million times more agonizing.

Jesus was the son of God, so in a sense he was God, but the sacrifice wasn't as much as he died, its in the way he died and everything he went through. His death is something we can not even fathom in our way of life anymore, it was so harsh and painful, and he did this just to save us from our sins, he came to earth to bear the burden of our sin, and it says in the Bible that when he took on the sin it was so much sin that God had to turn his face away from Jesus, this is the Ultimate Sacrifice |
