I had the pleasure of meeting Donald Richie - who is just "a sweetheart". He absolutely adores Ozu and even in conversation with him about Ozu - the admiration he holds for Ozu is touching.

Late Spring is my absolute favorite. in the beginning of the film Ozu shows a town during spring. He focuses on a group of flowers I believe and for a moment the wind slightly blows them. That was sooo beautiful and thoughful to me. I could smell those flowers, it was everything I knew in my town as a child. Ozu was magnificent. Criterion has just come out with some new editions of his earlier films. Exciting!

Donald Richie said the best about Ozu, "a point of view of sympathetic sadness".

From 4:00 to 5:57 is from Early Spring. From 5:58 to the end is from Late Autumn. My guess for the first one is Tokyo Story.
