I really like this guy on domestic issues. I just can't agree with his view that "if we leave them alone, they'll leave us alone" foreign policy. When it comes to taxes though, this guy is the man.

If you are a fan of this tax, I am imploring you, open your mind, and please read and understand Table 11 (on page 31), concerning "Utility"(essentially, well-being) results yearly across income groups if the FT were to pass, at the following link on the FT backers' own site:tinyurl dotcomslash 593htl

Go read the CBO's report on spending. Last year, Medicare+Medicaid cost $600 billion. The savings on interest and IRS expenditures would almost pay for any increase in Medicare and Medicaid caused by the Fair Tax by themselves.

Sorry, the math doesn't work on that statement. According to the CBO, the income tax generated roughly $5 for every dollar we paid to service the debt. Furthermore, the Federal Reserve is not the exclusive owner of Treasury bonds- far from it. The Fed's balance sheet is roughly $400 billion, while the publicly traded national debt is an order of magnitude larger.

The Fair Tax is a sales tax the kind imposed by every despot from Louis XVI and Czar Nicholas II none of whom are with us today. The American Revolution was sparked by a revolt against sales taxes like the one on tea. It's a lie to use that in support of another sales tax. The reason people revolt against sales taxes is that they allow govt not to tax land owners whose land is made valuable by govt. services and the presence of hard working people not all of whom own land. Its an old scam.

where did you get this? I'm aware of the whole federal reserve thing but I can never find any hard evidence to support this.

Yea, because he got CRUCIFIED in the elections.
