Famous Polish bard Jacek Kaczmarski (the symbol of Solidarity'80-81) was deeply fascinated by Vysotsky. Many of his early songs are adaptations of Vysotsky songs (not direct translations, but songs with similar melody and theme) - for example "Nie lubię" (Я не люблю), "Kasandra" (Кассандра) and "Obława" (Охота на волков) - ?v=SdzJ4hyZRicThe best song by Kaczmarski is called "Epitafium dla Włodzimierza Wysockiego" (Vladimir Vysotsky Epitaph) (?v=guMyd5c59WY or 1981 version ?v=8tj9YqlQ7es)

In Poland Vysotsky is not only well known (at least to peaple of more or less my generation) but admired and considered the greatest Russian bard.As for myself, in spite of the years gone, his singing still gives me the goose flesh. (sorry for not writing this in Russian, I haven't got the Russian characters).
