I 'met' Jaco in New York, although I didn't know it at the time. I was in Washington Square Park, August 1985, and a guy sat down beside me with a beatbox, playing 'Birdland'. I was playing my guitar, but he looked pretty mean, long hair, heavy coat on a hot day, so I moved away and let him be. According to Milkowski's book, this was just at the time when Jaco was hanging out in the park, homeless and scoring change from passers-by. RIP, man. Hope you've got a good band going.

I saw these guys live twice. The first time I saw them, and after a few minutes of watching Jaco, I thought, "Man, this guy's the Jimi Hendrix of the bass". I think I had him pegged right. And just like Jimi..."Whooooosh" he was gone. Hey man! Did you see that shooting star!?! Wow! Awesome!
