Hands down the best version of "Layla" ever. I grew tired of both the unplugged and studio versions from radio overkill and so on. I prefer Eric's solo here to Duane's slide guitar solo on the original. This version has the perfect combo of Eric Clapton's guitar and vocals, Phil Collins' stellar drumming (put on any Genesis album and his drumming is years ahead of its time), the bass of Nathan East (Clapton's best bass player) and keyboards of Greg Philliganes. This is Birmingham NEC 1986.

there are sooo many live version of this song and this one is probably the best one, just on top of the unplugged live.

GOD this is the best cover of any song ever. Also, did NYONE ELSE NOTICE THAT IN 1985 Clapton had already broke up with patty, but he' wearing his ring.

right on, man. I agree but this is a pretty fucking bad ass lineup right here, considering it was in the mid 80's. rockin version. |
