Before he created Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney drew cartoons of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit for Universal Pictures and Charles Mintz. This was the first of these films which was released to theaters. Other animators who were involved included Ub Iwerks, Hugh Harman, Friz Freleng, Les Clark, Ben Clopton, Norm Blackburn and Rollin "Ham" Hamilton.Note that the original film was silent. The soundtrack was added when it was rereleased a few years later.====================Note that I am now moderating the comments because of some bad apples.

tell me about it, nicolaj0154... I long for the old days of Mousterpiece Theatre and Good Morning, Mickey back in the 80's when Disney Channel first started and mainly showed old Disney cartoons. Oswald, Mickey, the old Alice shorts... I'd love to see those.

everyone, oswald is disney. he was before mickey when looney tunes stole the idea. that's how they made bugs bunny. since walt disney's idea was stolen, he created mickey.

WOW 1927 onboard camera! This is nearly 100 years ago. I'm kinda scared by Disney genius.

Excellent music! Silent films, which were originally shown with live accompaniment, rarely receive this kind of treatment when they're released to DVD. I'll bet the soundtrack is from the 1931 sound-era re-release.

OMG! I remember watching this when someone showed it to me a few years ago! Shows even people in the 20's knew what they were doing. ^^
