Hes very technical but he seems to lack the song writing ability that some drummers like danny carey posses.

Yoshiki is the drummer of X Japan (and pianist too). He has also solo works. He plays drums and piano (and he played guitar at hide's memoir summit)

it's all about the style...there's no such thing as the best guitarist or the best drummer...everyone's got their own style it's almost senseless to compare and like u said "an utter waste of time"...and i hate ppl who thinks that speed is EVERYTHING when it comes to music...just because one can play faster does not mean that one is better...

God I hate people who compare musicians. Neil Peart and Yoshiki could not be any more different. I would like to see either of them play the others music as good as they do. My point is, comparing is not only stupid, but an utter waste of time.
