I merely said that we as bassists DO hold the band up, if theres no bassist, theres a keyboardist, its one or the other, or sometimes both, and i agree, root note players are boring, but sometimes super technical John Myung and Billy Sheehan playing is unnecessary, i'd rather be known for being a good solid bassist who had the occasional solo rather than the flashiest guy who couldnt hold a simple acoustic song together because it was "super tech bass" or nothing. but Billy was a mixture of both

Minus Chords. Bass is a much more versatile instrument if you were to take time and think about it. We're not there just to look good. We're there to hold the band up and do some crazy funky shit.
