Oh, and they're not run-of-the-mill shoegaze, but I'd wager that Home Video kind of qualifies, though they also are very electronically minded. Hopefully they give you something new to look into :)

I agree. Some bands accept that eventually the bag of tricks runs empty. Going back and redoing things, or having a set sound can breed a bit of nostalgia. Personally, I've always liked to be able to compare songs by the same artist that sound similar. I mean, look at how excited some NIN fans get when Trent quotes himself, or how Cure fans drool over backtracking. I mean, these aren't really quite what was being discussed, but I think they help convey the idea that greats repeat themselves

Look into The Daysleepers. They've got a lot of new-wave influence, but they've put out enough that you should be able to find at least a few things you like by them.
