I don't think you even know how to read the Quran yet you're asking other people to read it. You don't even know how to spell the QURAN properly. Let me give you a lesson on how to spell it correctly. It's QURAN. Not Kuran. Learn how to spell.

hello again. ur translation for waly is almost perfect! so i take u actually speak arabic too, here is the verse in arabic:أفحسب الذين كفروا ان يتخذوا عبادي من دوني أولياء إنا أعتدنا جهنم للكافرين نزلاso we were saying the root of awliya is waliy and waliy means some1 who takes care of something for example: وَليًّ الأَمر means a parent or a guardian in the mean of being

Thats why you have to put the determinator before it: THE- Protecting Friend. It would put the meaning of friend into an absolutive or eternal evel which is incompareable to Gods creation. Humans cannot achieve this level for they are non-eternal. There is a difference calling someone al-kareem (THE-Generous) or just Kareem (generous) or Abdal-kareem (servant/slave of The Generous).thanks anyway

Back to Awliya I would favour the interpretion patron. It conveys not only friendship but dependence or defence. It expresses hierarchy which is not denoted by the word allie. Of course, a friend in our terms is someone of our level.

I believe a good Quran translation uses to put interpretations into brackets- next to the interpreted word. So it may encourages people to read, compare, think and find out more possible meanings carefully. No one can translate a book but the author himself. All others would just interprete. So I accept your interpretation. Hope you can understand mine, too.

Thanks for your hint akkilani. I am not like Luther- just translating AND making people satisfied with MY view. A single meaning can be conveyed by many words. In my English Quran translation from Madinah the semantic field of AWLIYA is interpreted with lords, gods, protector. Watch the roots W-L-Y awliya and waliy are made up from. In my Q. translation Waliy (its a verse concerning God) is interpreted as protector, by the way. |
