In the book she cuts his feet, but she lets it hanging by a thread of skin, and then cauterizes it.In the film it's more redneck. Just a hammer and smash away.

wait..what was the first one again?...in the book she chainsaws his feet off. supposedly james caan was coming off cocain dependance during this film, was the reason he looked so jumpy and edgy.
